Step 1 Pick your league

Play with a partner in the Two-Man league, or on your own in the Solo league. Each league has its own field, its own leaderboard and its own prize money.

Two-Man League

Teams of 2 · New format every week

Grab a partner and play a new team format each week: scramble, best ball or alternate shot.

  • Entry, member team $500 $250 per player
  • Entry, non-member team $800 $400 per player
  • Total cash paid out $8,800

Solo League

Individual · 9 holes · 1 hour

No partner needed. Play 9 holes in a 1-hour session, any day Monday to Friday.

  • Entry, member $200
  • Entry, non-member $400
  • Total cash paid out $3,100
No separate sign-up for gross and net. Everyone in your league is in the same pool and plays both pots every week. High handicap? You are automatically in the hunt for the net pot. Your handicap starts from your Trackman handicap and is adjusted every week by our League Index Calculator.

Step 2 Every score plays for 2 pots

Everyone in your league is in one pool. Every round you post is ranked 2 ways at the same time, and each ranking has its own money. You never pick gross or net; you play both.

Standings: gross counts from week 1 and net counts from week 3, both up to the final week. A weekly skin goes to the lowest score that week in that pot. Gross skins run weeks 1 to 6. Net skins run weeks 3 to 8, because weeks 1 and 2 set everyone’s handicap.

Step 4 How the finals work

Regular season

Everyone plays both pots

Every round counts toward the gross standings and the net standings.

First playoff week

Still everyone, still both

Every team plays again for both pots. The standings after this week set the finals.

Final week

Top 4 in gross. Top 4 in net.

Head-to-head match play, 9 holes per match: semifinals, then the championship. Net matches are played with league handicaps.

In the top 4 of both? You play in the gross final, and the next-highest team in the net standings takes your net spot.

Step 5 The 1-pot rule

You can win from only 1 pot at a time.
1 skin per week. 1 final.

Same week

Low gross and low net in week 4

You take the $200 gross skin. The net skin goes to the best net score among everyone else.

Different weeks

Gross skin in week 4, net skin in week 6

You keep both skins. The rule only applies within the same week.

Skin, then title

Gross skin in week 4, then 1st in net for the season

You keep the skin and the net title. Winning a skin never takes you out of the title race.

End of season

Top 4 in gross and top 4 in net

You play in the gross final. The next-highest team in the net standings takes your net spot.

Questions

Good to know.

How do gross and net work?

There are 2 leagues, Two-Man and Solo, and inside each one every score plays for a gross pot and a net pot at the same time. Gross is your raw score. Net is your score minus your league handicap, which we calculate with a public formula and update every week. You can win only 1 pot at a time. In a given week, if you win both skins, you take the gross skin and the net skin is decided without you. For the season, you can play in the gross final or the net final, not both. Qualify for both and you play in the gross final; the next-highest team in the net standings takes your net spot. Winning a weekly skin never stops you from contending for either season title.

How does the Solo league work?

Solo is a separate league with its own field and prizes. You play 9 holes in a 1-hour session, any day Monday to Friday, at either club. Entry is $200 for members and $400 for non-members. Gross and net each pay $1,000 for 1st and $250 for 2nd, with $50 gross skins in weeks 1 to 6 and $50 net skins in weeks 3 to 8.

Do I sign up for gross or net?

Neither. There is no separate sign-up. Everyone in your league is in one pool and plays for the gross pot and the net pot every week. High handicap players are automatically in the hunt for the net pot.

How do the finals work?

Everyone plays for both pots through the regular season and the first playoff week. The standings after that week set the finals. In the final week, the top 4 in gross and the top 4 in net play head-to-head match play, 9 holes per match: semifinals, then the championship. If you are in the top 4 of both, you play in the gross final, and the next-highest team in the net standings takes your net spot.

Can I win a skin and a season title?

Yes. Skins and season titles are separate. The 1-pot rule only stops you from winning the gross skin and the net skin in the same week, or playing in both the gross final and the net final. Win the gross skin in week 4 and you can still win the net championship.

When do we play?

The season runs 8 weeks, December 7 to January 29. Play your round any day Monday to Friday during each league week, at either club.

What if I don’t have a handicap?

Your league handicap starts from your Trackman handicap. No Trackman handicap yet? Enter your average 18-hole score and we will set your starting League Index from it.

Where are the winter leagues played?

At The Golf Place in Langhorne, Bucks County, and at Fairways & Dreams in Conshohocken, Montgomery County. You can play at either club, and both feed one combined leaderboard. Langhorne is a short drive from Newtown, Yardley, Levittown and Doylestown. Two-Man is capped at 35 teams in Conshohocken, so sign up early if that is your home club.

When do we pay?

After you submit the form, we contact you (or your team captain) to confirm your spot and collect entry. Nothing is charged on this page.

League Index Calculator

How is the league handicapped?

Every round counts for a gross pot and a net pot. For net, your handicap starts from your Trackman handicap. Our League Index Calculator then fits it to each week’s course and format, and adjusts it automatically every week based on league results. It works the same way for everyone.

  1. Start with your Trackman handicap. No Trackman handicap yet? We estimate one from your average 18-hole score.
  2. Fit it to the week’s course. Tougher tees give you more strokes and easier tees give fewer, using the USGA 9-hole formula.
  3. Combine the team for the format. Scramble, best ball and alternate shot each blend the 2 players differently, based on USGA team allowances.
  4. Adjust every week. Keep beating the field and you lose strokes. Keep finishing behind it and you earn a few back, more slowly.
  • Weeks 1 and 2 set everyone’s handicap, so net standings count from week 3 and net skins run weeks 3 to 8.
  • Gross skins run weeks 1 to 6.
  • Everyone plays both pots until the final week. Then the top 4 in gross and top 4 in net play 9-hole match play: semifinals, then the championship.
  • 1 pot at a time: 1 skin per week and 1 final. Win both skins and you take gross. Top 4 of both? You play the gross final; the next-highest net team takes your net spot.
  • Every playing handicap is posted before play opens each Monday.

Step 1: Starting League Index

Each player’s starting League Index (LI) is their Trackman handicap when the season starts. It stays fixed all season; the weekly adjustment in Step 4 is what moves. No Trackman handicap yet:

LI = 0.85 × (average 18-hole score − 72)

The LI ranges from +5.0 to 30.0.

In plain words: a golfer who averages 90 starts at 15.3. Handicaps come from your better rounds, not your average one, so the 0.85 trims the number a little.

Step 2: 9-hole Course Handicap

Each week your LI is converted for that week’s tees. Slope and Course Rating come from the tees the league plays in Trackman.

CH9 = (LI ÷ 2) × (Slope ÷ 113) + (Course Rating ÷ 2 − Par of the nine)

In plain words: half your index for 9 holes, scaled up on harder courses and down on easier ones, plus strokes when the tees play tougher than par.

Step 3: Format Handicap

The 2 players’ CH9s become 1 team number (FH). L is the lower CH9 and H is the higher one.

FormatFormat HandicapSource
Scramble35% of L + 15% of HUSGA recommended allowance
Best ball50% of L + 25% of HLeague allowance, from a 200,000-round simulation
Alternate shot50% of (L + H)USGA recommended allowance
Solo95% of CH9USGA individual stroke play allowance

Any other format uses whichever of these the league announces before the week starts.

In plain words: in a scramble or best ball the better player carries most holes, so their handicap counts for more. In alternate shot both players hit every other shot, so both count equally.

Step 4: Weekly League Adjustment

Your playing handicap this week. LA (League Adjustment) starts at 0. Rounding is to the nearest whole stroke, and .5 rounds up.

Playing Handicap = round(FH + LA) Net = Gross − Playing Handicap

After the round, your Week Score. Each hole is capped at double bogey for handicap purposes only. Gross standings use real scores.

Raw Net = Capped Gross − FH W = Field Median Raw Net − Your Raw Net

The Field Median is the middle Raw Net of everyone who played that week. A W of +3 means you beat the middle of the field by 3 strokes.

Your adjustment for next week. n is the number of weeks you have played.

A = (average of all your W) × n ÷ (n + 1)
  • If A is above 0: LA = −A. You lose the full amount.
  • If A is below 0: LA = −½ × A. You gain back half.
  • LA can never be higher than +2.0.

In plain words: keep beating the field and you lose strokes. Keep finishing behind it and you get some back, at half speed and never more than 2. One hot night only counts for half, while a pattern over several weeks counts almost in full.

Example

A team of an 8.0 and a 20.0 on tees with a Course Rating of 68.8, a Slope of 126 and a par-36 nine. Their CH9s are 2.9 and 9.6.

Week 1 (best ball)Week 2 (scramble)
Format Handicap3.82.4
League Adjustment0−1.4
Playing Handicap41
Gross / Net34 / 3031 / 30
Week Score (W)+2.8+1.0
Adjustment for next week−1.4−1.3

The team beat the field by almost 3 strokes in week 1, so it gives back 1.4 strokes in week 2. If it keeps finishing near the middle, that adjustment slowly shrinks.

Why it holds up

We tested the formula on 500 simulated 30-team seasons. Honest teams won net about as often as luck alone predicts. A team that overstated its handicap by 2 strokes per player per 9 holes won 32% of seasons without the weekly adjustment and 8% with it.

Fine print

  • Trackman records gross scores only. The league calculates every net score.
  • Missed week: no Week Score, and your adjustment carries over unchanged.
  • Substitute: the team’s Format Handicap that week uses the substitute’s League Index.
  • The league can adjust any handicap if scores show it doesn’t reflect ability, and will post the reason.
  • This is a league handicap only. Simulator league rounds are not posted to any official Handicap Index.
